About

IMG_4002Welcome to The Studio’s website!

My name is Shannon, the creator and visionary of The Studio. I quit my 25 year career in the telecommunications industry to open a yoga studio and become a yoga teacher in Georgetown, Kentucky.

Twas the loss of my son, Nick Likens, to pediatric cancer in 2007 that had me wandering into a yoga class to help me figure out how to deal with the grief. I was an inconsistent student at best, then decided to take the leap into yogapreneurship, offering all the things I love, including massage and dance.

My precious daughter Alex, went to yoga school with me and helped me open up The Studio. She launched our thriving dance program, where we keep the FUN in FUNdamentals. She has since moved on, chasing her own dreams, but those initial long days and nights making my dream come true are always close to my heart.

In 3 years, I earned my E-RYT (Experienced Yoga Teacher) certification. I’ve now been teaching 12 years and over 5,000 classes, became a Registered Yoga School through Yoga Alliance, graduated 7 classes of yoga teacher training students and have been practicing yoga for more than 18 years.

I consider my classes a fusion of all the yoga that I like including hatha, restorative, yin, and whatever I create. I also love teaching multi-generational classes. We can learn so much from each other.

It’s increasingly important that my classes are inclusive for all humans – including seniors and curvier folks.  I LOVE teaching beginners and enjoy baking in my love of the seasons, history, & music into my classes.

I’m currently enrolled in the Asheville Yoga Center’s 500 Hour program and plan to graduate in 2024. It’s important to me to keep learning. That iceberg of knowledge is ginormous!

My goal is that peace, love, and happiness welcome all that walk through our doors. We want you leaving and wanting for more.

Mr. Studio, Andy Stricklin, helps me keep my dreams alive……..and grounded.

From the bottom of my heart,
Shannon
